What degrees/diplomas are necessary for architectural engineering?

There is such thing as architectural engineering… go look it up. Don't answer if you don't know what I'm talking about. You CANNOT just use a GED for engineering! Are you crazy? All of our buildings, bridges, etc. would be cracking apart! You have to have some kind of college degree.
You'll need a degree from an college with an accredited architectural or engineering school. Here in Indiana, only Ball State, Notre Dame, and Valporaiso are accredited arhcitectural schools. Purdue has an accredited engineering school. You'll need to do your homework to see which colleges will have an architectural or engineering program. And they are not 4 year programs. Most are at least 5 years. You're going to need a lot more than just a GED, that's for sure!

There is no job called Architectural Engineering. You can either be an Architect or a (insert Discepline here i.e. civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, blah blah) engineer. So I would say just a GED!!

There is a program at the Milwaukee School of Engineering that is Architectural Engineering. I have the degree myself. What it is is a Bachelors of Science in Architectural Engineering with a specialty in Building Environmental Systems. There are three different speciatlies within the program that you have to choose from at the end of your Sophomore year in college. 1) Building Environmental Systems (HVAC, Fire Protection, & Plumbing) 2) Structural or 3) Electrical Building Systems. It is a 5 year degree condensed into 4 years if you can stay on track. I design HVAC for high rise condominiums in SW Florida.

In Newfoundland, Canada, there is a school called the College of the North Atlantic that offers a program called Architectural Engineering Technology. It is a 3 year dimploma program. Its curriculum consists of a series of theoretical and practical subjects oriented toward the technical aspects of architecture.
