Heres the thing, i dont know what i want to do with my life. I enrolled into the Engineering program at Rutgers, but i dont think i want to do it. I was thinking of going into the medical field or business. I like helping people and I also feel i would really like doing business.

Is it too late since i didnt choose like a business school or medical program to go to? I know its still early but, i dont know what to do :[

If i do choose to do engineering, is there any careers in the medical field or business as an engineer?

If you don't like the feedback, change what you're doing. If you find you don't like your major, change it. You'll spend more money and it'll probably take longer to graduate, but you'll like what you do to make money.

~ rutgers seems really good so far but then comes..

Engineering Ranking (US News):
P: 16th in the US
R: 48th in the US

so here are the facts. Please give me any advice you have whether you went to one of the colleges or not. Any other facts are also helpful.Thanks Guys.

First, you need to ask yourself what campus you like better.
-See the libraries
-See the dorms
-Explore the general landscape and aura of each campus
-Meet a professor
-Try the dining hall

Then, you need to decide how much money your parents are willing to spend on you.
-If they will pay full cost
-If you are expected to pay some
-If you need to switch majors or transfers, are these extra costs going to matter? (usually won't cost anything tho)

But maybe before all those other choices, you need to ask yourself if you will be able to stick with engineering for four or five years. If you DO get a new major, then does the desired campus have something that you can switch to?

Keep in mind that Rutgers is all one school, and the choices in Majors and Minors is exponentially abundant.

And you get to go to the football games for free at RUTGERS, which also has a nationally ranked swimming, softball, basketball, baseball, and a capella group.

Take into consideration the ethnic proportions, too.

I want to go into computer science as a major (possibly computer engineering or bioengineering), and do pre-med or pre-law studies. So basically, I want to major in either CS, CE, or BE – and combine that with either med or law.

Syracuse is giving me 32 grand out and some loan to pay for about 45 grand worth of cost of attendance. It's only slightly more than Rutgers, in that I still have to conjure up 10-13 grand for both Rutgers and Syracuse…

I put more weight on academics than the fun of college, but I still want the fun as well. Which is better for my situation? Thanks.

P.S. I'm Asian, and hanging out with other azns would be great, although this is a relatively minor factor.

Hey. I am a sophmore at Rutgers. I have friends at both schools. I think Rutgers is an awesome school. It is much more difficult and challenging than I thought it would be. If you go to Rutgers for any kind of Math or Science based major, you'll definately do well. Their math and sciences are really good. As for Asians at Rutgers, you WONT have a problem. There are tons of asians especially on Busch campus. With Rutgers, you can change around as much as you want with the tons of majors they offer. Whatever you decide, I wish you good luck!

Michigan for me has only two problems: distance and money. I'm in NJ so rutgers is costing about 12K for me vs 43K for U Michigan.

I still have a chance to choose because I got off waitlist for Michigan.

If I want to apply to medical school through the same major (biomedical engineering), would it be worth it for me to go the extra mile(s) and go to U michigan?

Someone please reply I desperately need outside opinions as I only have a few days to decide. I REALLY NEED TO KNOW whether its worth 30k extra to go to a much better college (Michigan) If I am looking to apply to medical school.

Michigan's undergrad is far more respectable than Rutgers. But if you think you would earn higher marks at Rutgers then consider spending a semester or two there. The nice thing about being accepted to one school and going to another is that if you decide you don't like where you are, you've already got one foot in the door somewhere else.

Your education is an investment. If you're serious, make that investment!

Englineering is even more demanding than computer science. If you really delight in mathematics, this would be a good field.

You are to be complimented on your grades and I wish the best for you. You will actually have an easier life if you take computer science or mathematics with the idea of going on for a doctorate to teach it. Computer programmers have a tendency to burn out.

My 11th grade has AP Physics (B-), AP Calc AB (B), AP Chem (B-). Got 4 on AP Physics and 4 on AP Calc and 3 on AP Chem.

I am Hispanic/Chicano which is what I marked on my application. I basically applied mad early as everyone instructed me to. So basically, as there is no more turning back, what can I expect.

You've taken many AP's and you had a reasonable score on your SAT's. The only thing slowing you down is your GPA and class rank – but the rest of it kind of makes up for that.

Besides, you're a minority. That means as long as you fulfill basic requirements, you're in.

I’m not going to get into MIT or EMbry-Riddle, so are these some good schools for that major in the northeast? Which has the best program?

I’d go with SUNY Buffalo, Rutgers or RPI. I was a mechanical at SUNY Buffalo and apart from a semester or so of extra classes for the aeros (and different electives), the curriculum for the 2 majors are the same and was very good. You also have undergraduate research projects available and wind tunnels for use at SUNY Buffalo. Not sure about the other 2 for that aspect. Rutgers should be good as well and RPI is great for technical sciences but is a little on the pricey side.
