School of the Art Institute of Chicago good for audio engineering?

I aspire to be an audio engineer and i dont know which college is best to go to.but my current choices are this one, american university, webster university and savannah college of art and design.

The art institute is a great choice because it is actually an accredited University. Because it is “NACACC” accredited, if you wanted to transfer your credits to a four-year University, you would be able to. Many people spend a couple of years at one school and then change their mind (either a little or a lot) about what they want to do and attempt to transfer their credits/grades. Accredited, or “real” schools will only accept transfer credits from other accredited institutions. Again, this is why I think the art institute, along with Webster or American, would be good choices over Savannah. Good luck! :)

What do I have to do to become an Audio Engineer?

What sciences should I be good at? I’m in high school and I’m deciding which classes to take (in regards to science and math)
is audio engineering big on sciences? Which ones.

also, is electrical engineering the same thing as Audio engineering. I can’t find any colleges with Audio Engineering programs, only electrical engineering.

Thanks

I person that posted before me was right. I went to and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While in college I took electives in a field called “Digital Signal Processing or DSP”. Because I had an interest in DSP I got an internship my senior year with an audio/sound company based in PA. The truth is a lot of audio engineers have degrees in EE the main reason why? is only a real EE has a detailed knowledge of filters which is required to be an audio engineer. Using a math based software packaged MATLAB while in college I managed to mix, sample and cut songs together using just computer program skills not a big mix board.

As for what classes to take I suggest math & physics. If not you can always try to take them in college. Hell I never took one college prep class in high school and still made it through college.

After learning what I could in the audio industry I took my knowledge into a different field. I went to work in the defense industry with my skills of audio engineering. Beyond that I can’t go into the specifics of my job I’ll just say it’s rewarding.

Good Luck Friend
