Is it possible to get accepted by top engineering schools graduating from City College with a GPA of 3.30?

I attend The City College of New York and part of the Honors Program. I am a sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineer. So far, my GPA is a 3.30. I am planning to apply to top engineering schools after I graduate. I am going to try my hardest to bring it up above a 3.50. What are the odds of being accepted to a reputable top engineering school (MIT, etc..) with a GPA of 3.30-3.50 from CITY COLLEGE OF NEW YORK (CCNY)? I know there are other characteristics and information recruiters look into. I will like to know a percentage.

Percentage wise, it's almost impossible to tell.

Uniqueness wise, if you have something interesting and original to offer them, then your chances go up. Also if you get good reccomendations, also, and your class course load is challenging.

I wish you the best of luck. A good friend goes to MIT and loves it. You sound like you have worked really hard, so I hope things work out for you!

Good undergrad Civil Engineer schools in CA?

I've been looking up top schools like crazy. What are some of the best California undergrad schools for civil engineering in your opinion? Also, if you go to an undergrad school to finish your masters, can you transfer to another college to get your doctorate?

P.S. what do computer engineers and electrical engineers do?

Thanks, old chap.

Computer engineers are not necessarily professional engineers.. that is typically one of four in california
Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural (which is an advanced Civil).

Cal Poly, UC Berk. both have good engineering studies.

Think hard about getting a masters or a Phd.. before you go that route you will want to get a professional license (no that is not automatic with graduation).

You may want to find out about how you obtain a professional license in California . You need to have one before you can legally call yourself an engineer (unless you mean the guy that sweeps up – 'sanitation engineer', or the guy that drives the train)

try this site – they are the ones that run the show in California:

good luck…

I want to be a software engineer. What are some of the top schools to receive a degree from?

I am willing to move any where in the states. I am familiar with California, Utah, Oklahoma, Arizona, Georgia. I have no credits yet. Also do you know if I can take some classes online to start working on my generals…

Avoid online classes. They won’t get the attention from potential employers that someone with a “real” degree will.
