Career Help?
If I was interested in a career as a nuclear engineer (which I am) and I was planning on going to the Naval Academy (which I am) are there any other engineering schools out there that you might recommend? Also, how much money does a nuclear engineer make and how much can they potentially make? thanks ![]()
Just do your research on schools that offer engineering and you should be able to find some useful information. I'm actually a chemical engineering student, which apparently are recruited by the Navy for their nuclear engineering program. I've heard that nuclear engineers start at roughly $60,000 per year, then by their fourth year with the Navy are earning approximately $90,000. After four years I've heard that one has the option of re-enlisting, or one can leave the Navy and work elsewhere. A friend of mine from high school is actually a nuclear engineer with the navy… however he says that he has virtually no free time whatsoever. If you choose to attend a standard four year school before signing on with the Navy then there should be a representative there that can provide you with more detailed information
