Help with choosing college and major?

I'm in the process of choosing my colleges for the upcoming year, and I really want to attend Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. I really loved the campus visit and felt like all of the things the admissions officer was talking about connected with me. However, I wish to major in Chemical Engineering, or perhaps another Chemistry field. I know Johns Hopkins has a strong Biology/Biomedical Engineering field, but I don't think they're too strong in the Chemical Engineering field.

Someone once told me that the classes required for both were not too different, but I'm not too sure about this.

I really do love Chemistry, I can deal with Physics, although I prefer Chem, and Calculus I'm currently learning. Should I decide to apply to Johns Hopkins even though I don't know if their Chem fields are strong? Or should I apply to somewhere like UC Berkeley, which is ranked top in the Chemical Engineering field? I've never been to Berkeley, and this is for Early Decision.

Well, Johns Hopkins is a good university and i'm sure they have a good program for what you want to study. As long as the university you go to does not suck, then you should be fine. I currently go to a university that is not strong in my field, however, students that graduate from this field get hired to really good jobs. Going to Berkeley should be really cool though. I heard it's really nice. Just choose whatever u think it is more convenient for you. I think both universities would work just fine.

By the way, as long as you get your degree, that's all it matters. Classes might be slightly different, but in the end you will really learn everything you need to know when you start practicing in your career. Just focus on getting really good grades. Good Luck with your decision!

If John Hopkins is where you want to go and go there. But Berkeley is a really good school. My dad went there and bunch of my friends go there and love it. There are a bunch of shops, bookstores, and great restaurants surrounding the campus. Whichever school you choose, just make sure you're happy and you want to go there.
